Rideau HS Soup and Bread Share

On March 1, Rideau HS held a Soup and Bread Share followed by a lively 90-minute multicultural show featuring the diverse talents and cultures of students.

Guests of honour Algonquin Elder Albert Dumont, Rideau School Council Chair Jenn Moroziuk, parent Monjur Chowdhury, Rideau's Multicultural Liaison Officers and Principal Steve Spidell welcomed everyone to the celebration of the Rideau family.

Over 300 students, family and community members attended. I recognized some of the Syrian families Trustee Schwartz and I met with in the common room of the apartment building where many of them live. They expressed concern at that meeting about the extra distance to Gloucester. Couldn't help but wonder how they will get to such school events if students are transferred to Gloucester HS.
